Other Prayers from St Joseph's
Prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen.
Prayer after Mass
O God, I come before you this morning, with all my failings, my troubles, my weaknesses, and all my sins. I go away now one with Christ, your Son, to live with His life in this little part of your world in which you, My Father, has set me down.
I have offered my life with Christ to you in this Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Let me go out now and be true to that offering among all those with whom I shall meet in the course of this day (week).
Let me be to them a Christ, loving with His love; not with sentimentality and selfishness,not asking for anything, but ready to give of myself in patience, in submission, in compassion, in wrestling with self; and with Your help dying to self.
I have not just spoken to You this morning, I have received You into my soul. Let me take You with me into the world.
Oh Jesus, win for all of us the kind smile of Our Father. Let Him see in each one of us, not ourselves but you His Beloved Son in whom He is well pleased.
Prayer before a Crucifix
BEHOLD, O good and sweetest Jesus,
I cast myself upon my knees in Thy sight,
and with the most fervent desire of my soul
I pray and beseech Thee
to impress upon my heart
lively sentiments of faith, hope and charity,
with true repentance for my sins
and a most firm desire of amendment:
whilst with deep affection and grief of soul
I consider within myself
and mentally contemplate
Thy five most precious Wounds,
having before mine eyes
that which David,
the prophet, long ago
spoke in Thine Own person
concerning Thee, my Jesus:
They have pierced My hands and My feet,
they have numbered all My bones
[Psalm 21, 17, 18]
Prayer after Communion
St Ignatus Loyola
Soul of Christ, sanctify me,
Body of Christ, Save me
Blood of Christ, inebriate me.
Water from the side of Christ, wash me.
Passion of Christ, strengthen me.
O Good Jesus, hear me.
Within Thy wounds hide me.
Suffer me not to be separated from thee.
From the malignant enemy defend me.
In the hour of my death call me.
And bid me come unto Thee,
That with all Thy saints,
I may praise thee
Forever and ever.
Personal Prayer to Jesus
Lord Jesus I accept you as my personal Saviour.
From this moment on may I open my heart to you and trust that the Holy Spirit will fill this heart with your love so that I can in all sincerity worship God our Father above all things and love my neighbour as myself.
For me alone this will be extremely difficult. In my human nature I am under constant attack from Satan but I know that if I trust You, You will provide me with whatever graces I need to withstand such evil attacks.
I know that with Your love it is truly possible to have heaven here on earth.
For what is Heaven except to be in the presence of God.
With Your help I can overcome my human limitations, my needless worries, and my needless concerns.
Help me accept Your holy living Word as proclaimed in the bible and at every Mass and through the Gospel realise that my childish love reflects Your words -
'Unless you become like little children you shall not enter the Kingdom of Heaven'.
Jesus please grant that when my time comes to meet You, You will not be a stranger but a friend.
I can ask for nothing more.
Amen.
Think of Jesus today.
Open your heart and trust Him.
He loves you.
Don’t wait until you need Him before you turn to Him.
Have faith in Him.
He loves you.
He is there for you with His love in good times and bad.
Look in a mirror and say - I am not alone, Jesus loves me!
